Our Positive Story

Tam Cassidy has over 20 years’ experience working in the public and 3rd sector; home and abroad. With vast experience in partnership working and managing people and projects.  He has developed initiatives such as community currencies within prisons and thrives in developing projects and organisations with a social aim.

He worked in Australia he learned from Aboriginal elders that there is a sadness that their young are developing a sense of resentment and anger towards what was perpetrated on their forefathers by British colonialism. They conveyed they did not want a legacy of hate or resentment to be passed down generations.

This struck a chord with Tam because he felt a sense of shame of his association with what was perpetrated.  It then occurred to him, that this sense of shame is not a legacy we want to passed down our generations, and that, if we ignore this, this could potentially negate both our children’s ability to look outward in the future.

He discussed finding ways to give our young an opportunity to work together and unite as people. The seed of Positive Scotland was planted and its roots grew when her returned to Scotland.

The methodology we developed can be replicated with other indigenous cultures, preparing our children for a future trading in respect and knowledge with indigenous peoples whose populations are growing.

This organisation is the consolidation of years of experience in work, but also in Tam personal life, it represents aspirations, values, and a faith we are all inherently good.
